Formal Event Musician

David is available to perform as a solo bagpiper for formal events such as weddings, funerals, corporate engagements, graduations, and other special events. Depending on your event requirements, he can perform in full kilt and highland dress or business casual. When contacting David to receive a quote for your event, please provide as many details as possible including date, location, duration of performance time, and any special requests.

Producer & Studio Musician

David works regularly as an album producer and a studio musician.

 

As a producer, David provides artistic vision, technical expertise, and recording studio knowledge to solo artists or folk bands who are recording an album. David studied recording engineering at Cabrillo College, and is an experienced audio engineer and performer who is able to combine these two areas of expertise to guide musicians to create a masterpiece.

 

As a studio musician, David has the capability to record a part for you remotely and send it to your audio engineer or to work with you directly in your recording studio. David has recorded as a guest musician on over one hundred albums across all genres of music. Notably, he was a key musician for the sound track of the PBS documentary, “Andrew Jackson: Good, Evil, and the Presidency.”

Instructor

David offers private instruction on bagpipes, whistle, and bodhran. He is also available to give group workshops and teach at music camps. As a teenager, David studied in Scotland with some of the most notable tradition bearers of Scottish bagpiping, including Fred Morrison and Hamish Moore. David's immense knowledge of traditional Scottish and Irish music is evident in his thorough and accessible teaching style. 

David has taught at a range of music camps including the Pebble Beach Piping School, the Silver Apple Scottish Fiddle Camp, the Lark in the Morning World Music Camp, and the Community Music School of Santa Cruz Celtic Music Camps. Contact David to discuss his availability.
